Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will separate from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then settled his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group enter places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Questers and Planners parties.
Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
